Frequently Asked Questions
What is a heavy duty power strip?
A heavy duty power strip is a high-capacity surge protector built with a metal housing, a thicker (typically 14-AWG) power cord, and a higher joule rating than a standard strip. CRST heavy duty power strips are made for garages, workshops, offices, and commercial spaces where several high-draw devices run at the same time.
What's the difference between a power strip and a surge protector?
A power strip simply adds more outlets. A surge protector adds a protection circuit, measured in joules, that absorbs voltage spikes to shield your electronics. Every CRST heavy duty power strip is a surge protector, with joule ratings from 1,020J up to 4,000J and a built-in circuit breaker.
What product category does a power strip fall under?
Power strips are classified under electrical accessories and power distribution. In retail systems and product catalogs they are typically filed under Electronics > Power & Electrical > Surge Protectors / Power Strips.
Are CRST power strips safety certified?
Yes. CRST power strips are tested and certified to recognized safety standards (UL / ETL listed, with models also SGS tested) and include a built-in circuit breaker for overload protection.
Do you offer power strips with individual switches?
Yes. Several CRST models feature individual on/off switches for each outlet, so you can control devices independently and cut standby power to anything you're not using.
Can I mount a CRST power strip on a wall or desk?
Many CRST models are mountable, with keyhole slots or mounting brackets for wall, workbench, or desk-edge installation, plus wide-spaced outlets that fit bulky adapters.
